The 'Adventure' Camp

ok world.. haa i m back.. lolz

from monday to wednesday, dazhong pri was having a P4-5 Camp ar the MOE Diary Farm Adventure Camp, which is of course at Diary Farm that area.

in fact its like opps one of the entrance of Diary Farm. anyway, as much as i wanted to go for the camp, i could not stay for the whole 3 days. reason being that i m not a pri4 or 5 form teacher, i m a p3 form teacher so naturally i got to look after my class and cant go for the whole thing loh.

which got me quite depressed because i really want to go out n see the sun again.. haha

but thank the higher-ups.. on the contact time meeting in the week before the camp itself. Ms Gwi informed me that i would be going on tuesday, one whole day, doing dragon boating. lolz.

quite cool ar..

of course the thought came to mind how the hell are primary school kids going to row a dragon boat, afterall when i was in cjc and we had dragon boating... things din go tat well.. lolz.. but nonetheless i was excited to go and come on lah.. can get away from school.. of course happy lah =P

the trade off so to speak was that on monday n wednesday i have to take the classes of other teachers whu r going for courses or for the camp itself. therefore i had to give up my form class back to sham.. which is quite omg-ish.. coz i actually planned alot of things for them to do.. interesting things too..

but as what mrs mine said "welcome to the real world, it happens..."

so chaos reigned on monday, since the admin side also told me abt the taking over of classes in the morning of monday!!!!!.. so rush here n rush there.. printing worksheets for my class so tat they wun rot during sham's relief sessions lolz.. and also rushing to the different relief classes..

oh oh.. and i finally took a p6 class.. HORRIBLE sia.. lolz.. quite the weird kids, damm rude. so i had to shout at them, bring down their ego but saying that my p3 class can behave better than them (which is quite true).. and put on a very very strict face. of course the loud voice helped... see short ppl like me always gets underestimated.

well feel my wrath... =)

lolz anyway i went out of pt.. so yar come tuesday i went straight to Diary Farm Adventure Camp, reaching there at like 815am.. felt good because can wake up abit later.. lolz.. met zul who kindly brought me into the camp. Now the DB was at Kallang so we had to wait for the chartered buses to come first. while waiting i explored the campsite wit zul loh..

as usual zul was soaking up his fan club's energies.. lolz. while i was just walking around. generally the camp is very small, compared to saribum scout camp or even OBS camp.. lolz just a few clusters of building and thats it. The bunks of the camp staff, including teachers, are so-so.. something akin to SAF bunks... but theres an air-con room wit tv n the sorts which was quite nice.. haha..

so after exploring.. we had our share of bitching wit the teachers.. and they r 10years older than us.. lolz!.. quite fun really.. quite enlightening too.. for obvious reasons i cant say what we gossiped abt lah .. ;)

now.. off we went to Kallang to the Singapore Dragon Boating Association.. where we dragon boated.. haha.. it has been quite sometime since i had the sun in my face.. and felt tat sore feeling in my arms n shoulders so it was gd!

lolz.. most of the kids were good sports, splashing water when 'enemy' dragon boats passed by.. and rowing with gusto when racing.. of course there were some really really whiny kids, who sometimes remind of some ppl =P. these kids really whine like dun know wad.. haha. water splashed into their eyes.. they wil cry n cry... row abit then say tired.. say tired nvm leh.. the worst thing is they left their paddle in the water, slowing ppl down.. omg lah!

baby sia... and they r p5 ar.. so its quite bad...
i still stand by the thought that parents nowadays do pamper their kids abit too much...
oh wellz..

overall.. i had a fun workout.. though felt quite depressed after going to DB, coz the dragon boaters there do look very very big.. lolz.. tall also lah.. so hmmm.. cant really see myself there.. =(

anyway.. there was a comment made by one of the dragon boaters there.. male dragon boater btw..

dragon boater: Oh my.. they are so cute (referring to DZ kids).. so small.. so cute

when we heard that.. this was our respond

Us: wait till you teach them... *smiles

haha..

anyway i went away from DB wit a slight tan so i m a happy man.. lolz..

oh later in the night was a campfire.. but theres not much to talk abt it.. except that it went quite horribly.. was boring.. and basically the kids were sleeping alrdy.. and those parents.. haha its like controlling a mob..

they are so determined to see their kids.. a human barricade also cant stop them.. for reasons unknown, we, the new teachers, were the barricade.. n we had to explain to the parents why they cant see their kids yet.. thnk goodness no parents forced their way and were unreasonable..one did comment i was very young.. dun know whether to beam or sulk.. haha

********

anyway throughout my short stay in the camp.. i had experiences of kids crying and begging for home.. this caused me to think and rmber if i was like that in p5.. memories seem to serve me that i went for camps in p5 n 6.. and yes i did miss home.. and yes i cried in my sleep once or twice.. but nvr had i cried to a leader or teacher and begged them to let me go home.. hmmm

neither did mummy dearest encourage me to go home...

are kids this days really that pampered.. hmm i wonder...
