curse u .. u damm corn!

i m a happier man now.. haha

some background info: for 2 months or so, i have lived with a corn growing in the sole of my left feet. although it hurts sometime, i still found the will to walk, stand n run too. i have nearly exhausted all means of self-medication to get rid of it, so it was getting a bit hopeless. haha. so i was almost resigned to let it stay in my feet.... but in recent weeks, there was a surge of pain in that damm corn and yes because of that, my mood has been abit sour and of course my leg was like fucking pain.. haha. so i finally decided to go see the polyclinic doctors...

and so...

anyway on thursday after sch, after acting busy for like one hour, i went to the cck polyclinic to see the corn on my feet. haha. the pain caused by the corn was nearly crippling, sometimes during lessons, it would get so pain i had to sit down on a chair in the middle of the class and continue talking...

so unglam...

so made the decision to go polyclinic to see.. since its supposed to b cheaper. so being polyclinic got to wait damm long. so while i was waiting did alot of marking, haha, marked my pupils hw until i fell asleep... can u imagine that? lolz

so finally went in see the doc.. n frankly i was quite embarrassed because i was wearing my black leather shoes so of course when i took off my shoe n sock.. it would b abit smelly loh. haha. but the doc face was straight.. professionalism.. anyway he was like 'that looks quite big... there are medicine, creams for such things but for such size.. i tink u go to specialist better.' i was like ok... since u said so.. so he gave me a referral letter to NUH to see some derma spec.

and yes even for the medicine (which were painkillers only) and the taking of the NUH appointment card took 100000 years to happen.. haha. but finally got everything and i nearly tripped myself when i saw the NUH appointment date. it was on the 27022009. omg lah!!!!!!!!!

270209 is like one mth away. the thought that i will be like so dead n crippled came to mind. so tried calling NUH to push the date forward but typical as it is. date can be changed but only to a later date, not eariler.. so abit stupid rite?

sheesh!... sigh.. so go home.. n bathe n then after drying up n walking back to my room, i realised my corn had actually bursted... if that is even the right word to use.. haha. but pus was coming out, so i started to squeeze out the pus and as i squeezed i realised with pleasant surprise that the corn was growing smaller n smaller n was not jutting out that much.. haha.. and i could walk normally to a certain degree. hehe

but the pain was still there.. then mummy asked abt the appointment n she was like totally shocked when i told her its 1mth later.. so she said go private doc and that she will pay the fees .. hehe .. so of course i said ok lo..

so actually i just went to see the private doc.. once again waited damm long.. gosh. once inside, he did some minor operation and was giving me a lesson on corn. lolz din know corns were actually caused by a bacteria. hmmm... interesting. i tink he was trying to make me feel less scared coz he was using a scrapel to cut into the corn... sheesh.. thank god i felt no pain...

so he gave me cream to get rid of blister which actually formed at the edge of the corn.. n he gave me another cream for the corn bacteria itself.. haha..

of course now i can walk normally wit little pain.. but the amt of money sent is quite abit.. sigh nearly 100 bucks.. but i guess for health theres no choice

i do hope i nvr will have a corn again... cursed damm thing!

oh well its that time of the year again. lolz..

all those visiting n dinners n also the collection of hong baos...

this year's reunion was once again conducted in another language so most of the times we younglings were just smiling n nodding at wadever was being said.

though it was supposed to b an happy occasion.. most of the talking seem to b about the ailing economy.. lolz..

wad a damper.. seriously

and it affects the collection of red packets tooo... haha

errrr...yes.. errr.. *laughing

u know.. when i first started doing this teaching thing at DZ pri sch. whenever my frens asked me what subjects i will b teaching, i would always jokingly say 'Sex Education'...

u see it was meant to b a joke...

but life is weird.. and seriously have a way to make things come back at you. lolz. the past week, i was doing my first Health Ed for a pri5 class and gosh! guess what the first few chapters are abt... haha

they were about puberty. lolz. wad was meant to b a joke became real, and my god, it was weird. wit kids saying rather funny things abt where the hair growth will b .. sheesh.. but as always i kept my 'teacher's face' on... n soldiered on, telling them all abt puberty. i now know how do teachers feel when they were talking abt such things with us. there is a real urge to burst out lauging whenever private parts were mentioned.. so omg-ish..

haha.. thnk god i was able to control the class.. and there was not much ridiculous laughters.. it was a weird lesson but rather amusing too. try saying things like 'girls, your chest will develop. meaning it will start to grow bigger.' or 'hair growth will occur in your arm pits n private parts too.'

yes.... very very interesting..

the PE lesson was interesting too.. played captain's ball. we got my PE class (5/4) to play against Sham's PE class (3/2). ok i also got teach 3/2 maths n eng so it was quite cool to see both classes fight it out.

it was fun.. well hopefully the kids had fun and of course there was a lesson to b learnt from everything. for that PE session, the lessons learnt were abt teamwork and having good sportmanship. haha. thnk goodness, the p5 were more matured, i m so proud of them. they would apologise immediately if they accidentally hit someone.. phew..

coz some p3 kid actually cried when he was shoved.

but crisis was averted when i got the p5 kid to apologise to the p3 kid and being kids, soon they were playing like nuts again. i wanted to seriously play wit them.. lolz.. but i tink abit unfair since i m relatively tall compared to them... so ended up being a referee. haha

but still had fun..

well its the wk leading to chinese new year and i very need that break. haha. not really a break from teaching, i kinda like the feeling i get when i teach but more of break from waking up so damm early. i tink for this whole 6mths plus of trainee teaching, i will whine most abt the early waking up timing.. lolz

in addition to waking up early, i can officially say that our end work time is also getting longer n longer. this is due to meeting and ccas, damm it! haha. ok lah though i whine abt the late ending of work, i am quite willing to stay behind in school, lolz, because most of the time also got so many things to do. need to mark books, worksheets and not to mention plan for the next day's lessons.

and sheesh i really suck at planning the lesson loh.. haha.. i dun seem to b able to follow wad i plan.. which is quite irritating. so things get pushed back n back. hmmmmmm. need to do something abt that soon, or else i will surely die one.

strange thing is i m actually starting to like CCAs.. lolz. the kids can see another side of me and i can also let my hair loose for a while.

monday was the friendly soccer match btwn Dazhong pri n Campara pri(dun know if spell correctly). both junior n senior teams played, the shocking thing was i was actually getting excited abt the game. in the beginnning was a bit conserved but at the end i was like shouting ... haha.. zul n shockingly sham were all wit me watching the match. sadly for the junior match, we kinda got trashed 5-2 i tink... sigh.. quite demoralizing ar, and the thing is the goals were all really stupid mistakes.

and that, coming from me a soccer noob, speaks ALOT!

thnk goodness, the senior team we won 4-3. haha ok lah got abit of luck n all tat but we still won. haha! it was exciting... n all thnx to zul explaining to me certain rules of the game.. haha =P

following monday was tuesday.. when i went for my first scout meeting.. GOSH!.. basically the scouts unit is very very small. haha.. there were only like 12 ppl whu attended the first meeting. 12 ppl is like only abit more than a normal patrol in SJI scout unit.. lolz. n the thing is i rmbered back when i was a cub scout in BPPS, there were like close to 8 patrols of 10 odd ppl... so DZ scout unit is small... n mayb abit unpopular.. hmm

but the malay scout mistress was quite funny. she is new.. so she got ambition which i liked. i mean i also wan to do something to the best of my abilities so i kinda told her i will support her. haha. hopefully wit my scouting exp =) can contribute quite a bit.. n mayb make scouts just like celeb cca in SJI... lolz yar rite...

but it was fun at the scouts meeting.. got this very funny n cheeky p6 kid whu is like super confident n high flyer. he is in the top class, is smart, is a prefect, is a sch soccer player n also a scout. n is relatively well-known too. haha but he is damm naughty.. so yar.. but brings colour to our lives i guess. haha. he can lead n he is not a bad kid. so hopefully wit the scout mistress n i n also zul can mayb like turn him into some inspirational model of scouts.. haha

A gathering of the minds...

Yesterday night was i think the first time in a very long time tat our whole gang of sji friends actually managed to meet up for something. haha

the whole gang being ty, kl, ger, cw, ed n of course myself.. haha.. fyi to all it has been ages since we last met up as an entire group. most of the time, someone will b busy n so it was quite a miracle tat everyone was present last night.

haha.. and for a gd reason too. since ytd we celebrated kl's bday, his 21st bday(actually his bday is on the 19th jan but we decided to do it eariler). haha. ok lah, it was not like fireworks n all.. n no sisters too. it was just a simple walking around, eating dinner, playing lan(gosh) n lots n lots of talking. haha.

we got kl a R.L polo shirt n a bday card wit all our personal messages... he said he liked it all.. haha hopefully its true ar.. lolz..

if its not.. also dun tell us pls.. =P

thnk goodness cw brought his camera along.. so for once we cld take photos during our outings.. haha. we took alot of grp pics.. hopefully can get them soon to upload.

sad thing was that ty had to leave early .. lolz.. he zoomed off after dinner n much talking. but was fun having him. lolz we were all saying tat we dun usually see him tat often, hopefully wit the end of his NS (which is soon), we will b seeing more of him. haha

of late i realised something is happening to us.. Us as in we the trainee teachers of Dazhong Pri Sch...

we r slowly but surely becoming the 'zombie' perm teachers of Dazhong..

u see.. although it has only been 2 wks.. our timetables hav changed drastically.. we no longer have that many free periods liao.. since either the free periods hav been changed to lessons wit other classes.. or we r being hunted down to do relief teaching for teachers who go MIA. lolz

becoz of having lesser free periods.. it is now nearly impossible for us to see all 3 of us in the staff room during office hours. the best is just 2 of us r free at one pt of time. like on wednesday.. we din even see each other from morning all the way to the end of the sch day...

OMG!

haha.. also the workload is increasing n increasing... to a pt where.. during a 1hour break.. we only spent like 10mins talking.. n the rest of the 50mins is spent on total silence doing our work, like marking stuffs or filing things or planning our next lessons...

haha... of course waking up at 5am plus everyday n reaching sch at 640am plus is not helping either...

gd thing is at least we r still leaving school earlier than most teachers, (most of them leave at like 6pm) .. so thnk the gods for small favours.. =)

as your know.. or probably will know.. teachers hav to take up CCAs too, as in they do not do the CCAs but more of supervise the CCAs..

so anyway.. at the start of my Dazhong teaching life.. i was kinda like given scouts without much of a say. not that i hated scouts or what, just that i hav been in scouts for close to a decade liao. It is time to start a brand new start.

however i was more or less resigned to my fate...

then at the last teacher's meeting b4 the start of sch, i was told tat i will b in soccer instead. haha. i was so hyped up over it, haha, finally doing a sports CCA... n afterall Dazhong (only) pride is soccer so i was more than rdy to take it up as my CCA. as i was abt to settle down to the hectic life of being a soccer teacher (soccer is on 2 days- every thurs n fri)... they suddenly told me that i was to go back to scouts.. which is a bit omg-ish..

the thing is.. n i really wanted to say over on my blog.. is well... i cant say in on my blog, since the whole world can read my blog.. haha

suffice to say.. i din hav much of a choice...

the only comfort i can hav is tat at least i can stil help out in soccer.. so oh wells.. i take wad i get bah..

on another side note... though that particular CCA news kinda spoilt my day.. certain things do make me rather happy.. haha

one was the confirmation tat we, as in the trainee teachers, wil finally b getting our own classes. on one hand i m like scared.. but on the other, i m excited at taking a whole class by myself and teaching them core subjects. being a form teacher is very different from being a subject teacher. personally i tink as a form teacher, its easier for u to mould the class to your ways..

another thing was my mentor, the Eng HOD, praising me... but tats a small matter.. lolz

n lastly although sometimes in Dazhong... the students can b abit omg-ish... on fri (or was it thurs), some kid from a relief class tat i took came up to me, shouted my name (as in Mr Wu) n gave me a hug.. lolz..

i know there r some out there.. whu wld say he is just a kid.. but honestly i tink if a kid is willing to hug u, he must find u to his liking.. afterall he is a kid, not some double faced young adults ar.. haha...

anyway which make me think of saying this to all:

ok its nearly the 2nd wk of teaching in Dazhong.. n we finally found the prefect timing of the bus to take.. lolz..

for your info, for days, we hav been experiencing the prob of getting everyone on board the same 188. 188 is the only bus that goes through all our bus stops. Since my bus stop is the 2nd one after the interchange, i cld always find a place in the bus. zul also usually can get onto the bus. howevee, most of the time, when the 188 reaches sham bus stop, it wil b so packed... the bus wun even stop..

n of course sham is left vibrating her lips at the bus stop.

so finally after much experimenting ... we hav found the right timing.. abit early but still right. lolz. apparently the 0620am 188 will always b a long, bendy one.. so tats mean there will b more than enough space for all 3 bus stops.

thnk god.. lol... of course tats means got to wake up like at 5am.. which is abit.. OMG!
but at least we reach sch like super early....

today was also the first time my mentor and i gave our p3 class a composition to write.. gosh it was quite a blood-boiling experience ar.. haha. bascially just to get to the pt of writing their own compo took like 3 lessons.

tats becoz got to go through their grammar ... their sentence construction .. and even hav to guide their thinking... n show them a model essay. did like 100000000 explanation just to get it into their head. even after handling all the 'techical' stuff, when they finally start writing.. u got to then teach them how to paragraph... why is there a need to paragraph.. n then got to teach them to leave a line btwn lines when they write... gosh! even telling them to write their names, dates, class n titles was also a very tough job...

thoughts of whether i was tat bad in p3 came to mind.. hmmm

anyway just very very irritating.. lolz.. not to mention some kids r just plain rude..
i tink today was the day when i shouted the most lolz.. one kid during PE lessons even said to me tat it was my fault that he din bring his PT attire coz i din remind him..

wah... i hear alrdy... gave him quite the scolding there...

i hav concluded after 1 wk of doing teaching: waking up at 530am every morning can b bad for my health.. haha

i dun even wake up that early for army lah... sheesh!

gd thing is i m sleeping earlier, so i guess at least the clock in my body is functioning properly. i m finally following the sleep early, wake-up early type of life.. which is fine by me coz anyway in uni life wld b like that.

anyway 1wk has passed... n this mth wun hav pay yet, got to wait til feb then will have.. sighz
the army guys would hav gotten their pay liao.. damm it!
so got to save save save... money getting tigher by the day... not to mention bus fare can b quite draining ar.. haha

luckily got shamini n zul at Dazhong.. fellow trainee teachers.. i tink we laughed the loudest in the staff office.. bitching n insulting each other.. n yes we all complain like dun know wad.. n laughed at the silly answers our pupils gave us .. thnk god for them, or else i will like die.. haha

so hard not to.. haha the kids r so cute n yes very small .. haha.. i mean i m teaching p3 n p5.. n the tallest is like at my hip area.. hha..

but they look so cute..

of course alot of shit happened.. but boy the exp was fun n yes enriching.. i wun tell your everything, i m too tired to type it all out in this blog, will just share wit your in person. Suffice to say, i do some actual teaching by myself for non-critical subjects (social studies, PE) n teach wit a mentor teacher for the critical subjects (english n maths). Actually most of the time the mentor teacher is the one tat does the teaching coz ultimately the class performance is joined to hers n not mine, so usually i just assist her n observe n learn her diff teaching methods. My mentor teacher is the english head.... so not bad lah, can learn quite a bit from her.

i hope one day she will let me teach her class =)

anyway... i tink i like teaching.. haha.. abit early but i got a feeling...
oh btw though the mentor teacher does the teaching, i do the marking ar.. so oh gosh.. haha

k back to work now, still got 4 more books to mark.... wad a waste of red ink..
n still got to wake up at 0530am tmr.. oh my god!

the 2nd day of the trainee teaching preparatory course was well shockingly quite funny.. haha

i mean there were still all those stupid lectures.. but the hands on was more..
the mock teaching session wit some of us acting as teachers n some of us as very difficult students was most enjoyable..

i do hope no bad karma come hitting us tmr.. haha

the ppl i met were all nice.. haha... will stay in contact.. afterall we all in this shit tgt.. lolz!

omg.. i better get used to waking up early every single day man.. haha

woke up at 6am today.. devastating to my body n mind.. haha
ok lah i might hav woken up abit early .. but oh wellz first time going to the training center mah.. so better to go alittle early.. haha

oh fyi.. today was the 1st day of work.. but i din go to the sch ... instead i hav to attend a teaching preparatory course at the MOE's training branch which is like somewhere in the Great World City area.. sigh...

the course was boring.. in short.. haha
at the start, our instructor was funny wit her many jokes n her many many life exp of teaching...
she is 71 but she looks 50 plus... serious...

but after a while.. she kept talking n talking n talking... n gosh the lecture was like dragging damm long lah... haha but at least it was rather interactive in a way..

but still.. the whole thing was boring... had to force myself to stay awake at times..
thnk god the table i m sitting at got nice ppl... n we got along quite well..

for a time.. i was worried abt lunch. haha but in the end our table ppl had lunch tgt n other table's ppl also joined us.. so got quite alot of chatting.. the gals talked abt the teaching jobs, n life b4 now.. while the guys mainly talked abt army stuff.. duh?

anyway monday stil got one more day of course training.. sigh.. hopefully can sit with the same ppl again.. haha =)

....n in place of all tat, theres going to b my teaching career.. haha.. quite excited abt tat, wonder how it wil all go.. of course the pay is decently gd.. n i tink if i take up tutoring shld b able to gain quite a bit of money.. haha

not to mention after the trainee teaching .. theres going to b uni.. that is going to b another interesting part of my life.. lolz.. i was thinking this 2008, theres no pt in doing a year reflection.. coz it was just army.. n i kinda alrdy did a write up on it.. hehe
